“The film is made in the editing room. The shooting of the film is about shopping…
And then you take those ingredients and you can make a good cake — or not.”

 The late Philip Seymour Hoffman

My name is Adam Moffat, and I’ve been an editor for over 25 years. Before I found editing, I wanted to be a chef—I even planned to move to France after high school. That never happened, but the mindset stuck: understand your ingredients, work with what you have, and create something that connects and entertains your audience.

Over the years, I’ve cut Emmy-nominated documentaries, more than 250 episodes of unscripted television, branded content, commercials, and most recently, a narrative feature called SYNC.

Currently, I’ve been drawn to more scripted material—especially in the drama and action space—stories with flawed, driven characters carrying the weight of the world while just trying to do what’s right. Think Andor, Homeland or Zero Dark Thirty. Maybe that’s because I’m a dad of two—I know what it feels like to hold everything together when its all falling apart.

Let’s address the elephant in the room: I don’t have a long list of scripted credits. But my extensive background in documentary and television has prepared me for high-stakes creative work. I bring clarity, calm, and a story-first mindset to every project.

As budgets and timelines have tightened, I’ve learned to adapt—finding creative solutions to problems that arise on set. Whether it’s working with limited takes, shaping inconsistent performances, or repurposing footage from different scenes or even stock footage. My documentary experience has taught me how to build compelling narratives from whatever was captured, and my years in television trained me to think quickly, make decisions confidently, and, most importantly, trust the process.

Like a sous-chef in a fast-paced kitchen, I help the director bring their vision to life—keeping the audience happy and the producers or financiers satisfied.

So let’s fire up the burners and make something great.
